About outshone
We get small software companies named when buyers ask AI.
Each week we pick up to five jobs that would help your product get named in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google, do most of them, and tell you honestly whether you're being named more often.
What outshone does
outshone isn't another dashboard. It's a job that gets done every week. We check what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google search tell buyers looking for a tool like yours, and which rivals they name instead.
Then we pick up to five jobs most likely to get you named, and do most of each one. We find the “best of” lists and review sites AI tools read, and draft the email to the people who run them. We draft fixes to your site, like a pricing page AI tools can't read, and new pages, like a fair comparison with your biggest rival. You approve each email before it's sent from your own address, and each page before it's published.
Every Monday we tell you honestly whether it's working: how often you're named, out of many answers, with a likely range. The work covers three areas: AI visibility, Google search and content.
Who it's for
Small software companies, from about 2 to 50 people, selling a product like a CRM, a help desk, a form builder or a scheduling tool. Usually there's a founder or a marketing team of one to three, and nobody whose job is SEO.
They know buyers have moved. In G2's 2026 survey of B2B software buyers, 51% said they start their research with an AI chatbot more often than with Google, and 69% had picked a different vendor than planned because a chatbot recommended it (G2). What they don't have is the time to check every week and do the work it points to.
It's also for agencies that look after software clients. See outshone for agencies.
Why we built it
How we work
The rules behind every check, every draft and every Monday note.
We never promise you a spot in AI answers
Nobody honestly can. AI answers change every time, and no one controls what they say.
We count, and show our work
We ask each question many times and tell you how often you're named, with a likely range. Our method is public.
Nothing goes out without your OK
We draft the emails and the pages. You approve each one, and emails go from your own address.
We always say who's writing
When a job means replying in a community, the reply says who it's from. No posing as a happy customer.
We say what we can't measure
We can count how often AI tools name you. We can't count the sign-ups, trials or revenue that brings, and we won't pretend to.
No fake reviews, ever
We'll help you ask real customers for reviews. We never write them.
Software does the work, and we say so
The checking, the drafting and the counting are done by software. We don't dress it up as a team of people.
Every number has a source and a date
When we quote a study, we link to it and say when we checked it. Examples use invented products, labeled where they appear.
See exactly how we measure.
We track ourselves
We run outshone on outshone, and we'll publish what it finds every month from launch, good or bad.
