“Best of” list

A “best of” list is an article that picks several products for one need, like “Best CRMs for small teams.” It's the kind of page AI tools quote most.

Also called best-of list or top 10 list

In AirOps’ review of what AI tools quote, “best of” lists made up 21.9% of quoted pages, more than any other kind. And 80.9% of the lists quoted were on other people’s sites. Only 19.1% were written by a company about itself. Software leans on these lists more than any other industry: 35.37% of the pages AI tools quoted about software were “best of” lists (AirOps).

For a software company, the lists that matter are the ones for your category and the buyers you serve: on review blogs, newsletters, comparison sites and other companies’ resource pages. If a list that AI tools read leaves you out, their answer may leave you out too.

Getting added starts with asking: a short, personal note to the writer, with something they can check, like a free trial or your docs. Where AI gets its answers about software explains how to find the lists that matter for you.
